Study on seismic performance of base-isolated and base-fixed Ancient timber buildings in hanging-wall/footwall Earthquakes

This study aims to quantify effects of hanging-wall/footwall fault parameters on dynamic responses base-isolated and base-fixed ancient timber buildings. Finite element models a real building with without isolation technology are first built verified by comparison existing studies. Fitting analysis three typical models, Abrahamson-Silva-Kamai, Campbell-Bozorgnia Chiou-Youngs as well 622 recorded ground motions, is then conducted determine the optimal model generate earthquake waves. Finally, seismic performance based-isolated buildings investigated. The results show that Abrahamson-Silva-Kamai achieves best fitting lowest computational errors. Isolation can improve for different ages. effectiveness decreases increasing ages in parameters. remains unchanged dip angles footwall earthquakes, whereas it increase hanging-wall earthquakes at same site distance. structural better than earthquakes.
